In my opinion, late ice offers the best opportunity to catch the biggest fish of the hard-water season. The end of winter means fish of all species will be sporting their plumpest figures of the year and be in a cooperative mood to boot. For this discussion, I will focus on top-of-the-line predators such as walleyes, pike, and both large and smallmouth bass.
